McCurdy School

McCurdy School is located in Espanola, New Mexico. A project related to the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church, it provides quality education in a Christ-centered environment for children pre-K through high school, enrolling approximately 420 students. The school enrolls Hispanic, Native American, African American, and Anglo students. While enrolled, students develop a Christian value system, learn respect for rich cultural diversity, and are empowered to develop as whole people to become life-long learners, reaching their highest potential as responsible citizens in service to a changing world.

There are many ways for individuals and groups to volunteer at McCurdy. Long term volunteers commit themselves for at least one semester and often for a full school year. They work as tutors or library and classroom aides. Many long-term volunteers also work in the maintenance department and school offices.

Short term volunteers commit to working from two weeks to a few months. Short-term volunteer tasks include secretary, teacher's assistant, teacher's aide, tutor, maintenance, as a Before and After School Care Program worker, in the music department, as a library assistant, or as a substitute teacher.
